About US

From humble beginnings come great things they say, Vibrant Velachery stands as a testimonial to this! VV has sprouted from a huddle of three runners to a clan surpassing 300 highly motivated, disciplined athletes within 9 years of its genesis! An unbending tree is easily broken – the versatility of the group is it’s identity and strength! Family of VV has all colours, fragrances and flavours spread across in the form of veteran athletes, sprinters, marathoners, ultra runners, randoneurs, triathletes, mentors, coaches, etc! Masterstrokes of VVians include podium finishes at International, National, State and Regional events, conquering several SR titles and finishes at prestigious events like PBP! The group organises events like Roll the Wheels (A cycling event), SCR (a triathlon event) and several other weekly/monthly challenges to keep the ball rolling! Also a structured training program before major events is published to ensure PBs for everyone! The group conducts pinned group runs, pinned group rides, core strengthening sessions, tabata/HIIT sessions, foam rolling sessions regularly! C2W initiative promotes use of cycle to commute to work reducing emissions and contributing to a greener tomorrow! VV has also proven its social responsibility by carrying out cleaning programs, flood relief operations, relief rider initiative during COVID and so on. It’s more than a fitness group – a family where no one is left out or forgotten!

So aptly named!

The name itself rings with so much of energy & cheer-which has become synonymous with the vibrant group spirit!
Started with its first group run in 2013 with just 3 runners , the Vibrant Velachery chapter of Chennai Runners in Velacery of course!, has grown into this huge family of 300 plus members over the past 9y & still counting!

Our favourite ‘Run-bhoomi’-the Inner Ring Road stretch starting from Velachery MRTS is always abuzz with runners & walkers.
One will always find VVians running there anyday!

VV is not just a group, VV is extended family!
VV is a family of runners, riders, swimmers, triathletes and so many other sporting disciplines which can boast of podium winners at national & international levels-be it marathons, ultra marathons, track events, swimming, triathlons, cycling..you name it!

VV has one of the highest number of SRs(Super Randonneur) including many women, the title conferred by Audax Parisien of France,which comes after the gruelling BRM rides ranging from 200km – 600km in a single season and extends to 1000km & 1200km rides too. VV can boast of the tough 1200km riding course of PBP(Paris-Brest-Paris) finisher too!

VVians are the cricket champions of the CR inter group cricket tournament held this year as well!
Winning is our 2nd nature, first one being fun!

VV has always encouraged all round sporting activities by conducting events like VV SCR-the triathlon event, VV Roll the Wheels-the cycling event & VV running events like Chennai ultras

VV has events for the kids too!..yes,we believe in catching them young, all done with loads of fun!

VVians have shown time and again it’s responsibility towards society by organising Cleanathons to keep the neighbourhood clean & green..

And by supporting various causes-be it flood relief or to support upcoming sportspersons, for women safety, education for under privileged. The list goes on.
There is so much to VV & VVians , which will need a whole book to jot down.
It is the infectious group spirit which keeps the VVians bonded so strongly.
